Exibitionism is popular all over the world

Having sex in public is a very common fantasy and all over the world couples are discreetly (and indiscreetly) committing sexual acts in public places. Public sex consists of intercourse or any other sex acts performed in places where others could potentially see the participants. The thrill of taking leave of your senses and gratifying yourself in a spontaneous act of love seems to be happening more and more often now because both men and women often find it a turn-on to think that someone might find them in a "compromising position". There are also those who find exhibitionism a major turn-on and enjoy being watched.

Why do people want to have public sex?

A couple’s lust for one another might simply be too overpowering to wait and they must have one another at that exact moment. Some couples find the heightened adrenaline rush associated with the possibility of being caught greatly increases their arousal and thus they purposely and habitually seek out semi-public places to commit their naughty deed, because a little bit of fear or nervousness can make the scenario of sex outside of the home very exciting and stimulating. Others perhaps engage in sex in public places such as an airplane washroom purely for bragging rights to the infamous “mile high club”. Whether the motives for making love in public are lack of private space, urgency, sexual variety, or down right naughtiness, people will continue to do it…so here are a few tips.

Is there anything wrong with public sex?

Couples engaging in sexual acts in public should be aware that most states and provinces have laws against indecent exposure and it is certain that any fantasy will be dampened if there is a serious danger of getting arrested by the police. So if you engage in public sex do so in situations where the chances of actually being caught and/or offending anyone are very low. As well, make sure that if you are in the sight of other people, that they aren’t minors.

At the same time the thrill with public sex is being observed or at least the risk of being observed. Just make sure you are not observed by police or kids.

Dogging

No, it doesn't involve animals (at least, not if you don't want any). "Dogging" is a British euphemism for sex in public. The term also has a connotation of sex in public for the purpose of being seen. Certain signals (a glowing interior light, or turned on headlights) are considered to be invitations for voyeurs to come observe the participants. (It is considered rude to cheer them on, call requests, give a running commentary, or criticise.)

How to know if your partner is ready?

Men are certainly known for their sexual enthusiasm; the promise of thrilling sexual gratification will make most men willing to commit this act despite the consequences. A sexually confident and liberated woman may also be eager to experiment, but the fact of the matter is that public sex is not for everyone, so don’t pressure your partner.

If you are unsure about your partner’s feelings about engaging in public sex, there are several approaches you can take. The first is the PDA test (Public Displays of Affection, if you thought of something else, you are a nerd.); your partner’s willingness to participate in public acts like holding hands, kissing, or full fledged making out are often the best indications of whether or not your partner wants to play outside. A second approach to measure her promiscuity is to bring it up directly. Whether it be brought up as a direct question, or undercover through a “what are your fantasies chat”, this approach is never a bad one, as communication is the key to every successful relationship. A third approach would be to go to a nice little spot and just go for it. To succeed with this approach, you are best off taking your partner to a location that is outdoors, but as secluded as the privacy of your own home. For example, take your lover on a hiking trip. Have everything you could need in your back pack, and find a nice little place to take a “rest”. Start things nice and slow, especially if you are unsure about whether you partner likes the idea.

Possible locations

Obviously, pick somewhere that won't be frequented by other people. While beaches and hiking trails at night may seem like a good place, there is a high risk of night-time walkers passing by. However, clear areas slightly off the trail, (make sure you remember how to return, and watch out for poison ivy, anthills, and other hazards) and in the dunes away from the beach proper are much better.

A short list of places that may be suitable:

  • At the beach - Dunes, rock outcroppings (away from any cliff edges)
  • In a forest/park area - Clearings with no path nearby, underneath a rock overhang, in the shallows of a lake.
  • In your back yard. (Probably not in your front yard, or someone else's front yard)
  • Public bathroom stalls. (Only if there is a lot of background noise, like a nightclub - not in an old-folks home)
  • Semi-public shower stalls. (A rare find, but lots of fun! - places like a gym, or a university)
  • In your car. This is an oldie, but remember to park the car somewhere that people won't be, not necessarily your local lover's lane.
  • In the hot tub at your apartment complex

(This all depends on your country, and location... Don't try these places if it could result in you being arrested)

Tips for a Successful Experience

  • While sex in a public place is often a spontaneous experience, it helps to be prepared. If you are likely to be having a 'spontaneous moment' while in or near your car, keep these items hidden in the boot somewhere:
    • Thick picnic blanket. Making love on the grass sounds fun, but it's hard to explain grass stains and scratches from undergrowth. If you can find it, get one with a plastic backing - for when the ground is wet.
    • Condoms/other contraceptives - This should go without saying. If you have them, life is so much easier. Be safe, all'ya.
    • Massage oil - It can be explained away if found inadvertently, and is a wonderful way to start things off.
    • Baby wipes - a great thing for clean-up afterwards. It's hard to slip back unnoticed amongst a group of people if you're all 'sticky'.
    • Torch/Flashlight - The experience might be fun, but if you dally too long, you'll need to be able to find your way back in the dark. A missing-persons search could be very embarassing.
    • Bug spray - You'll be showing a lot of skin. If there might be biting insects around, better to be sprayed than bitten. Just don't kiss/bite/lick your partner if you've got bug spray on. :-)
    • Water bottle - Trust me on this one. Sex is a strenuous activity, you'll quite likely be thirsty.
  • If you see someone approaching... Despite what you might have encountered, just ignoring the newcomer is probably not recommended, unless you're sure that you won't be seen. Either cover up quickly, and just be PG-13 rated as they pass, or run away quickly, and continue somewhere more private.
  • If you are 'caught out'... you could just say 'Hi!'. Most people would be disconcerted enough to move on. Once caught out, move somewhere less public. If one person has seen you, more probably will. If you are found by a park ranger, a sheriff, a police officer, treat them extremely seriously, and be prepared to move on, give your name, etc. You don't want to aggravate them.
  • Things don't always work out. It can rain, there might not be a patch of ground not covered in sharp sticks, you might accidentally choose the site of the kindergarten's annual Teddybear's Picnic... don't let it get to you. Sex in public is a lot of fun. :-)
