Bestiality

Bestiality is widely recognized as the term for when humans have sexual intercourse with animals. Many consider this activity to be taboo, but like all fetishes it has a following. The most common occurrences of bestiality occur with tamed house pets, the aspect of having sexual relations with wild animals being both frightening and dangerous. Due to overwhelming social nonacceptance of bestiality, many who practice this choose to do it in secret, sharing it with only others who do the same or sometimes with nobody at all. Commonly Used Animals

Dogs Being one of the most readily available housepets similar to human size, dogs are most commonly used partner when partaking in bestiality. The most common activity done with dogs is the allowing of he/she to lick the human's genitalia/anus. This is most often easily done, for dogs tend to show interest in licking these areas, both with males and females. Both sexes of dogs are used in bestiality; the genitalia of each being comparable to that of a humans. Bestiality involved women often let their male dog mount them from behind, or in a missionary position. Male dogs can be relied on to hump and thrust at a female, making sexual intercourse attainable. (Apart from their terrible aim.) Male dogs often ejaculate a large amount of semen, an aspect some females find highly erotic. Human men also have sexual relations with female dogs, though some say it happens less often, nobody can know for sure. Men find it easier to have sexual relations with a female dog when she is in heat, a time they naturally would be having intercourse. Men must be careful when penetrating a female dog, if she dislikes it she may snap and bite, resulting in injury. The angle of penetration is also different, so go slow. This is not something one should do while drunk.

Horses Horses are also a commonly used animal when participating in bestiality, though not nearly as common as dogs. The main reason for this being that horses are usually kept in stables, needing large areas to wander and special equipment to keep healthy. It is not an extremely common practice to let a horse lick one's genitalia, this leaving the horses mouth often out of the equation. Having considerably larger genitalia than a human, females having sex with a male horse is sometimes a difficult task. When erect, a horse's penis can rival the length of a human arm. The only method usually attempted when having sex with a male horse is to let him mount you from behind, in a makeshift doggiestyle position. Rubbing, licking, and sucking a male horse's penis is a much easier job, and is sometimes as far as a women goes when with one. Female horses on the other hand are much easier to mate with, as long as she is ready and willing. A man usually stands behind a female horse, pushing her tail to the side and penetrating her. As usual, it is easier to have sex with a female horse when she is in heat, but with enough lubricant one can do it at any time.

Of course other animals are used in the realm of bestiality, but the occurrences become less frequent the more rare the animal becomes. Goats, pigs, cats, even monkeys have been used as sexual partners, but their followings are not as common.

Health Risks

Infections that are transmitted from animals to humans are called zoonoses. Some zoonoses may be transferred through casual contact, but others are much more readily transferred by activities that expose humans to the semen, vaginal fluids, urine, saliva, feces and blood of animals.

Brucellosis is one such disease, since it is transmitted by semen, vaginal fluids and urine. Brucellosis is rare in the USA but is widespread in many other parts of the world.

Allergic reactions to animal semen may occur. Bites and other trauma from penetration or trampling may occur. Likewise animals may be injured by humans through ignorance of physical differences, forcefulness, or, for female animals, excessive friction or infection.

Zoophilia

Zoophilia is often described as friendship, love, and sexual attraction to an animal. Many take this personal connection to their animals to a high level, treating them as they would any human partner. It is not uncommon in partnerships such as these for the animal and owner to cuddle, kiss, and 'converse.' Oral sex with animals and masturbation is often thrown into the mix as well, but can also be attributed to an enjoyment of the activities opposed to just done because of love.

The extent to which zoophilia occurs is not known with any certainty, largely because feelings which may not have been acted upon can be difficult to quantify, lack of clear divide between non-sexual zoophilia and everyday pet care, and reluctance by most zoophiles to disclose their feelings due to fear of both social and legal persecution. Instead most research into zoophilia has focused on its characteristics, rather than quantifying it.

Legality of Bestiality

Zoosexual acts are illegal in many jurisdictions, while others generally outlaw the mistreatment of animals without specifically mentioning sexuality. Because it is unresolved under the law whether sexual relations with an animal are inherently "abusive" or "mistreatment", this leaves the status of zoosexual activity unclear in some jurisdictions.

Currently, the legality of bestiality varies greatly around the world. It is legal in some countries, such as Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands, while it is illegal in Great Britain (for penetrative acts), Canada, and much of the United States, Australia and New Zealand. Countries such as Belgium, Germany and Russia are in between the two as they permit sexual activity with animals but strictly prohibit the promotion of animal-oriented pornography.
